Pendekar 212 Wiro Sableng dan Kinasih yang sembunyi di balik semak belukar di belakang sederetan pohon-pohon besar tidak menunggu lama. Yang muncul ternyata bukan Momok Dempet Berkaki Kuda, tapi serombongan penunggang kuda terdiri dari lima orang. Mereka berseragam hitam, bertampang sangar ganas. Rambut rata-rata panjang sebahu, kepala diikat kain hitam, muka tertutup kumis, janggut dan cambang bawuk meranggas. Di pinggang terselip golok besar yang gagangnya berbentuk sama yakni ukiran tengkorak. Kelima orang ini membawa buntalan besar, digantung di leher kuda masing-masing.

"Siapa mereka. Pasti orang-orang jahat..." bisik Kinasih.

Wiro memberi anda agar Kinasih segera menutup mulut.

Penunggang kuda paling depan tiba-tiba angkat tangan kirinya. "Kita berhenti di sini. Hitung jarahan!" Orang ini memiliki cacat di pertengahan kening, membelintang melewati mata kiri membuat matanya mencelet keluar, merah mengerikan. Tampangnya paling seram dibanding dengan empat kawannya. Dari ucapan serta sikap agaknya dia yang menjadi kepala rombongan.
